Biophilia. The bond that connects human being with nature.

It is our most precious resource and the source of all life. A new design approach, where sustainability is prioritized and the beauty of the natural world is honoured, makes sense from the need to re-establish the lost link with nature and with the living forms that surround us.

Design is living a fascinating moment with the arrival of fresh ideas, fearless textures and materials that lead a new era and inspire us.

Giving sense to man’s relationship with nature is no longer optional. Society is aware of the urgency in implementing designs that promote the health and well-being of users, while protecting the environment we inhabit.

Among all design and interior trends, biophilia stands out strongly. It is the innate sense of connection with nature human being has as a product of millions of years for adaptation and evolution in the natural environment.

Biophilia… A beautiful ray of hope.

It is not only the origin of life. There are so many fabulous effects of nature on our physical and mental health!

We enjoy it while playing in the park with our children, sitting on a terrace contemplating admirable views or when we dream of a holiday sailing the seas.

Natural areas are increasingly scarce and valuable, and people live fast, with obligations and a constant state of stress.

Hence the need to act in order to reduce the environmental damage we make on the planet and connect urban environments with nature by integrating elements or analogies that provoke a positive sensory experience.

Biophilic design sets guidelines regarding nature’s role in space that focus on cognitive performance, stress reduction, and improved emotions and mood.

The biophilic hypothesis, formulated by the American entomologist and naturalist Edward O. Wilson in his book Biophilia (1984), suggests that humans possess a deep emotional need to be in intimate and constant contact with the rest of living beings, whether plants or animals; and defines it as “the connections that human beings subconsciously seek with the rest of life”.

Biophilic design. Design to calm the mind and heal the spirit.

There is evidence that the presence of nature has a profoundly reassuring influence on us.

The glow of natural light, the movements of grass or the sounds of a fountain provoke in our brain a torrent of chemical compounds that generate pleasure, well-being, anti-stress and happiness.

The psychological benefits derived from contact with nature increase with the presence of real stimuli. The sunlight from large windows or skylights, the scenes of vegetation of the environment or the exterior landscaping, the organic materials of the coverings, the textures of the furniture…

On some occasions, there is no possibility of enhancing a real, intense and permanent connection with nature, either due to lack of space or because we are in an urban environment. In these cases, we can opt for the arrangement of artificial stimuli, which are also powerful.

Textiles of geometric patterns and floral wallpaper are a touch of colour and freshness, furniture that in the softness of its forms suggest the curves of the foliage. Control of temperature and humidity of the air or aromas and sounds that generate a response in our emotional state.

Nature returns to us in an overwhelming way, filling us with vitality, directly and obviously or with more abstract strategies.

A nature that hides great mysteries and is a master inspiration in the field of creative tasks.

With this new proposal we seek to bring you closer to issues of social and environmental responsibility, encourage you to be more aware of the impact that our actions have and invite you to adopt new environmentally friendly practices.

We want to accompany and inspire you with design concepts in favour of the environment, taking care of and respecting everything that integrates it.
