The true origin of the Chesterfield sofas is not well known. But we all can agree it comes from the turn of the century XIX, created to decorate the most exclusive social clubs on London, where only gentle man were permitted. Some clues point toward Phillip Standhope, the fourth chesterfield´s earl. He commissioned a cabinet maker, with the idea of creating a sofa where gentleman can sit with the back straight and avoids inadequate postures. Another source of information accredits the design to another Earl. Actually the armchairs and sofas Chester are recognized worldwide. For its beauty characterized by the capitone design, with the armrest and backrest in the same distance.
